Ducting

Supply, return, fresh air and exhaust ductwork, fabricated, insulated and balanced for even airflow.

HVAC projects

Air only arrives where the ducts carry it. We size each run, fabricate it to drawing, seal and insulate it, then balance the airflow at every outlet.

Ducting
Scope of work

What is included

  • Duct design and sizing

Each run sized for the air quantity it has to carry, at a sensible velocity.

  • Duct fabrication

Rectangular and round ducts made to the approved shop drawing.

  • Insulation

Thermal and acoustic insulation to stop condensation and noise.

  • Supports and hangers

Ducts hung level and secure from the slab or structure.

  • Grilles, diffusers and dampers

Air outlets and volume control dampers fitted and aligned with the ceiling.

  • Air balancing

Airflow measured and adjusted so every outlet delivers its share.

Even air in every corner of the floor.

How we do it

Four steps from enquiry to handover

  1. Site measurement and drawing

We measure the site and prepare a shop drawing that clears beams, lights and other services.

  2. Fabrication

Ducts and fittings are fabricated and tagged to the drawing.

  3. Erection and insulation

Ducts are hung, joined, sealed and insulated.

  4. Balancing and handover

Airflow is balanced at each outlet and the readings are handed over.

Four kinds of duct run

Every duct has one job

Supply air

Carries cooled air from the unit to every outlet.

Return air

Brings room air back to the unit to be cooled again.

Fresh air

Brings in filtered outside air so the space does not feel stale.

Exhaust

Removes heat, fumes and smells from kitchens, toilets and process areas.

Where it is used

Typical applications

Offices

Concealed ducts above false ceilings

Factories

Ventilation and exhaust runs

Restaurants

Kitchen exhaust and fresh air

Hospitals

Filtered, ducted air supply

FAQ

Questions about Ducting

What are the ducts made of?

Most comfort-cooling ducts are made from galvanised iron sheet. The sheet thickness depends on the duct size and pressure. Other materials are used where the application calls for them.

Why does ducting need insulation?

Cold air inside an uninsulated duct makes moisture condense on the outside and wastes cooling. Insulation prevents both.

Can you modify existing ductwork?

Yes. We add branches, reroute runs and rebalance the system when a layout changes.
